When a healthy diet is not enough to get your bad cholesterol where it needs to be, adding LIPTRUZET can help. LIPTRUZET works to reduce your LDL (bad) cholesterol by treating 2 SOURCES of cholesterol. It helps block the absorption of cholesterol that comes from food, and it reduces the cholesterol your body makes naturally, based on family history.
LIPTRUZET contains two cholesterol medicines, Zetia (ezetimibe) and atorvastatin, in a single tablet. LIPTRUZET has not been shown to reduce heart attacks or strokes more than atorvastatin alone.
Important Risk Information About LIPTRUZET™ (ezetimibe and atorvastatin):
LIPTRUZET is a prescription tablet and isn't right for everyone, including anyone with liver problems, people who are allergic to any ingredients in LIPTRUZET, and women who are nursing or pregnant or who may become pregnant.
Unexplained muscle pain or weakness could be a rare but serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor right away. Talk to your doctor about all the medicines you take. This may help avoid muscle problems or other side effects. Especially tell your doctor if you take medicines for your immune system, cholesterol, infections, birth control, heart failure, HIV or AIDS, hepatitis C, or gout. Also tell your doctor if you have muscle problems that do not go away even after your doctor has advised you to stop taking LIPTRUZET.
Your doctor should do simple blood tests to check your liver before treatment with LIPTRUZET and if you have symptoms of liver problems during treatment. Tell your doctor right away if you feel tired or weak, or have a loss of appetite, upper belly pain, dark urine, or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking LIPTRUZET. Side effects of LIPTRUZET included muscle and body pain and changes in liver function tests.
